Challenge #40 – Show Some Love

We are a stamping challenge so we do need to see some form of stamping on your project, also no digi stamps are allowed.

You may use digi downloads for enhancement of your projects … but the main focal point must be stamping.

To see who has been picked as the winner or a top three for the Trains, Planes & Automobiles Challenge you will have to pop back on Tuesday plus this time round Yvonne will be picking the Saturday Spotlight favourites and also her reasons why.

Also a big thank you to Marina from Cottage Crafts for sponsoring the FSC challenges.

Marina from Cottage Crafts is allowing the winner to choose anything from her shop up to the value of €7.

Show Some Love

Brenda & Joanna wanted to share some love with you all this fortnight (especially as Valentine’s day is only just around the corner).

Also sharing love is very important to each and everyone of us, it makes us smile, laugh, have beautiful thoughts and even cry but who doesn’t deserve some love in their life and what better way to show it than with an adorable creation.

Each fortnight the design team work their magic and show us their beautiful pieces of art but just look at the romantic and love inspired projects they are sharing with you on the catwalk, truly inspirational.

Ah … but before we do we have a little surprise for you, this fortnight we have a Guest Designer who is sharing her work with FSC.

Chris from Imagination And Inspiration Are Wonderful Things. I am sure you would all like to hop on over and Show Some Love as the challenge suggests.

When I was asked to guest design a piece of work for ‘Fashionable Stamping Challenges’ it made me think about how, through the years, my attitude to stamping and how I approach it has changed. When I first started stamping I thought that the stamp was the feature and could only be the feature which meant that some stamps were very hard to use and my work could be boring (pretty, but boring, lol). As my passion for crafting has progressed the many techniques I’ve learned from others has enabled me to see stamping in quite another light.

I think that venturing more into the ‘shabby chic’ and ‘altered art’ genres have certainly helped for now I see a stamp as a colour, a texture, a relief, a binder, not just the composition itself.

Love life

When I made this tableau originally the heart was plain but it didn’t ‘feel’ right and it definitely needed something to bind the embossed metal work with the rest of the card. By stamping the heart in black it bound the metal and gave it the finishing touch it needed.

Love is… shabby chic

Conversely, this card uses stamping to add colours, texture and contrast to various elements in the card. You will no doubt note that stamping is not the main feature of the card but forms the building blocks of the art itself.

The great thing about stamping is that no matter how new or advanced you are there is always something new to learn and something new to try.

Paula is starting our catwalk parade this fortnight with her rather fetching little pale pink and white number. It is so delicate and timeless but the hanging hearts add that extra bit of charm … Roses are deifinitely the flower of love.
